Cotton scarf Easter (Guatemala)


Woven on a traditional backstrap loom, this reversible scarf combines crimson, gold and purple to evoke scenes from Easter week in Guatemala. Lent – the 40 days leading up to Easter Sunday – emphasize reflection and penitence, and its focus is Christ's passion and crucifixion. Elaborate carpets of colorful sawdust are often created on the streets where a holy procession is to pass by. Skilled weavers from the Waqxaqi' Kan Women's Group create the sensation of images with their millennial textile skills in cotton.
